The Ongoing Tarot Card Swap~September 2011!!

Welcome!! This is a simple and easy swap, with your level of participation determined entirely by you.  Smiley

The tarot cards you make must be 4x6 inches. It is assumed that we are all using the Universal Rider-Waite deck for card meanings/symbolism - unless you specify differently in your personal preferences on your claim post.

A regular size greeting card envelope should be big enough to fit your card but be sure to put it in between some thicker pieces of card stock or cardboard so that it doesn't get ruined during the shipping process (remember the extra weight may change the shipping price slightly).

Please put your 'artist info' on the card. Twenty years from now we want to know who made such a beautiful card!

Discussion thread: Questions and discussion can be posted here.

Current Gallery: post photos of your received tarot cards here!

July Gallery: look at the tarot cards made in July

August Gallery: look at the tarot cards made in August

HOW THIS SWAP WORKS:

Claims are made throughout the signup/claim period of the swap.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 5 or 8.)

Posting QUALITY photos of received tarot cards is a requirement of this swap.  Smiley

CLAIMING

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 8 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 5 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 5 or 8 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:

~Claims= Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
~Sent= anything currently in the mail.
~Received= the cards received by the people you've sent them to.

3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

SAMPLE CLAIMS POST:

Quote
I claim RandomCraftsterMemb er for heffalumps/weasels tarot card.

3 claims, 2 sent, 1 received

I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.

My themes are:
1)   sneezing
2)   purple people eaters
3)   wandering men of grief
4)   jumping jehosophats
5)   birds in hats

ONCE YOU HAVE MADE A CLAIM:

1. Send a personal message to the person you have claimed and request their address
2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.  Smiley

ONCE YOU HAVE SENT OR RECEIVED A CARD
1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Label the message as Ongoing Tarot Card swap August--Sent or Ongoing Tarot Card Swap August--Received (or some variant of that)
3.  Be sure and include (1) the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme and (3) who sent it to (4) whom, in each email to the tarot card swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received tarot cards.  That's four pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!

For example, you could use this format:

Quote
I sent some tarot cards today!

Send by 12/16:
squire_inaria ---> randomswapper = fantasy theme

Send by 12/17:
squire_inaria ---> craftstermember = nature theme
squire_inaria ---> tarotfan101 = yet another fascinating theme

PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE THIS IN EVERY PM!

This lets the organizer easily access the swap info, so it can be updated.

POSTING PHOTOS OF TAROT CARDS RECEIVED
It is OH so important to post pictures of the amazing cards you receive!  This is the best way in the world to let it be known how special it is that you've received a wonderful treasure of someone else's creativity!

Please post pictures/scans of your received cards in the gallery (or make arrangements with your partner to do so).

FEEDBACK
Positive feedback will be given when all of the tarot cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the gallery!

ANY QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions please post them in the discussion thread or PM the organizer.  This thread is specifically for claims only.

Thanks to beckashell for this amazing "about claiming" post!

The September round is now open for claiming!

0 claims/0 sent/0 received

I'm Sara, the swap organizer, from Fort Worth, TX

For this round I'm going to try to get as much Major Arcana together as I can so that would be my preference, but if you have a great idea for another card that's cool too. Since I can only use one of a particular card at a time it would be great if you could let me know which card you're claiming for. I want to be able to use all my pretties at once!

Themes I'd love:
~Gypsy/Belly dance
~Pagan
~Celestial/Moon and Stars
~Mythical creatures
~Medieval/Renaissance
~Fairy tales (altered or regular)
~Faeries
~Mermaids
~Masks/Masquerade
~Artist's choice

Cards I've received/have been claimed for: High Priestess, Star, Death, Chariot

I claim Squire_Inaria for a Gypsy/Belly dance card of The Moon!

1 claims
0 sent
0 received

I live in FL, USA. I would prefer to recieve cards that can be gently shuffled in a deck
(not to much 3-d or bits hanging offside the card) I would also rather have the back be left blank for me
to decorate to unify the set, except for maybe a small artist sig at the bottom.  Grin My intentions are
to one day collect a workable set.

My themes are:

1)   Classic Rider-waite Tarot imagery
2)   Victorian Era
3)   White Ibis ( the bird )
4)   Gypsies
5)   Celtic Warriors
6)   Cats (esp. the "tortiseshell" variety, like my cat)
7)   Wicca
8 )   Belly Dance
9)   Air Travel
10)   Thunderstorms
11)   Celtic Art
12)   Irish Immigration to America
13)   Colonial New England/Boston/Salem
14)   Victorian or older anatomy diagrams (Henry Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body)

The cards I need are any of the following (I'm just starting!):

0)   The Fool
1)   The Magician
2)   The High Priestess
3)   The Empress
4)   The Emperor
5)   The Hierophant
6)   The Lovers
7)   The Chariot
8 )  Justice
9)   The Hermit
10)   Wheel of Fortune
11)   Strength / Fortitude
12)   The Hanged Man
13)   Death
14)   Temperance
15)   The Devil
16)   The Tower
17)   The Star
18)   The Moon
19)   The Sun
20)   Judgment
21)   The World

I claim squire_inaria for The Empress in a Goddess style.

1 claim/ 0 sent/ 0 received

Hi, I'm April and I live in Bothell, WA (that's right outside of Seattle) I'm working on collecting an entire tarot deck so just let me know which card you are claiming me for and the style. Most of them are still fair game. Smiley Also please do not round the edges of the card you make me. I plan on scanning all of the artwork I receive in order to make a working deck while at the same time preserving the original artwork....which is easier without rounded edges. Thanks in advance!

My Themes:

robots
zombies
fairy tales (spooky or regular)
circus/carnival
spooky
voodoo
vintage
owls
monsters
gypsy
embroidery
insects
dragonflies
skeletons
anatomy
maps

Surprise me!

Thanks for looking at my list Smiley
