I need the clearest possible soap base I can find. AND...

I need to use small plastic bags as molds. If the plastic if fairly thick, (and the soap pretty cool) can I use melt and pour? If not what should I use instead?

(I'm making goldfish-in-a-bag soap)

I don't know the first thing about making soap, but that is the cutest thing I have heard all day.  Please post when you finish this project!  Just the thought of it is tempting me to take up soapmaking... just what I need, a whole new craft.  Thanks a lot...

I'm glad you like the idea! I can't take credit for this one...The first time I saw this idea was in a little handmade gift shop. I couldn't stop laughing! The more real the goldfish looks and the clearer the soap is, the funnier it is!

It was $8 though! So I'm gonna make me some as gifts and whatnot (maybe christmas? or for all the little kids I know)

I was thinking I'd like to make them scented, but what would be appropriate!? Hmmm... Maybe like a light mixture of fruity smells? Something to add to the funny-ness?

(I've never been interested in soapmaking either!)

fishfood scented!!  gross... haha.  I love this idea so much.  I did a really quick web search to try to find something for you about clear bases, and I found this, which leads me to believe that if you don't scent it, it might turn out to be clearer than if you did.  I had no idea soap could be so easy!  I think I really do have to try it now... darn it.  Smiley  You and your clever (if borrowed) ideas.

wholesalesuppliespl us.com sells an ultra-clear base.  It's not very moisturizing, but boy, is it clear.

_While searching for molds I found the same thing you wanted to recreate, it's a tutorial-ish. I hope it's useful!
