My 8 year old daughter has been begging me to teach her to sew/craft/sew/quilt so I thought a packaged project would be right up her alley.  After perusing JoAnn's and Michael's we found this:

I was SO pleased with how quickly she picked it up, I helped her a bit along the way but 90% of this work was her own creation.
Action shot (hard at work):

Finished square:

I'm so proud of her!!
I just hope her love of crafting stays with her, I was about her age when my most awesome sister-in-law taught me how and I've loved it ever since

Awesome! I still remember the first projects I made with my grandma. She will cherish this memory forever! Oh, and it looks like she did a great job.

Awesome job!
I started with plastic canvas too, way back in the day when I would steal my grandma's supplies and hide in the closet to stitch (I was a weird kid).  That led to me learning everything from sewing to knitting and crochet to embroidery.  I hope she becomes a lifelong crafter - there are few, I think, hobbies as fulfilling as making something with your own hands.
