I can't believe I've been around here so long and this is my first challenge entry!

My husband's beloved Aunt Ruth passed away a few weeks ago. I having a long history of Floral Design, I made a lot of the flowers for her funeral. I also used a lot of the flowers from my own garden.  My husband's mother was very close with Ruth. I wanted to make something for her as a last memory of Ruth. I had read about how to do this so I decided to give it a try!

I used a Habotai silk scarf. It started off just plain ole' white. I used flower petals from the funeral arrangements and from my yard. I first covered half of the scarf with the petals. I scattered them and layered them randomly.

Next, I folded over the plain side of the scarf and used a rubber mallet to squish some of the color out.

Then, I rolled up the scarf with all the flowers inside.

Then, I used copper and steel wire to wrap the roll.

Next, I folded the roll up a little and put it in a plastic bag with a few T of vinegar.

I let the whole thing "cook" for a couple of days.
This is what it looked like when I first took it out of the vinegar bag.

I let it dry out then washed it with Woolite and ironed it after it was dry.
Here's a close up of the finished scarf. It turned out with a lot of green, which was perfect for my Mother in Law.

Thanks for looking!

That's amazing, so awesome!  I love the idea behind it, and it's a really great way to memorialize someone who's gone.

Thank you for sharing the process.  What a unique way to remember someone.  And, like people, no two will look the same.  Good job!!
