Robert Downey Jr's new Sherlock Holmes Movie is coming out in mid-December, and because I'm tired of waiting for someone else to do it, that seems as good an excuse as any to organize a Sherlock Holmes Swap.

I'm thinking November is about right, with send-outs in early December. That way people who are looking forward to the movie's premiere will be able to have their Holmes poppets, deerstalker caps, plush magnifying glasses, etc. while waiting in the line-up.

Anyone interested? Any suggestions?

I like this idea and the timing seems perfect to me!
Will it cover all renditions of Holmes?

I hope it does, I love all the old sherlock holmes, but cant stand the new movie. Id love to join this one, but only if it's not completely focused around the RDJ stuff.

I'm in if it isn't a huge swap and includes other sherlock series. I am obsessed with BBC's Sherlock series!

I think it absolutely has to include all 120+ years of Sherlock Holmes, with all the movie and TV versions, comic books, board games, cookbooks, etc. Everyone has Holmes adaptations they love, and ones they absolutely hate, and I'll have do my best to match people up to partners with similar preferences.

As it is, it may be hard to keep fistfights from breaking out in the swap thread!

Myself, I'm pretty old-school, and prefer the original stories, the Jeremy Brett TV series, and a few of the older movies. Sherlock doesn't do anything for me, and I have to admit I didn't even see the first Downey movie. (That purple dress that Rachel McAdams was wearing the in the posters put me off the whole thing. I've probably got over it enough now to enjoy it!)

fist fights...fantastic.
in keeping with the theme should we call it fisticuffs?
I myself love all the regenerations (it's Sat...Who day, so sue me) of Sherlock. Neil Gaiman's short story from "Fragile Things" was a joy.

I would be up for this as well but I haven't seen (and have no desire to see) the RDJ film.  I love the PBS "Sherlock," most of the older adaptations and I LOVE all of the books and stories!

I have to admit that I've never read any of the orig. works, but I used to love the game "221 Baker Street"
as a kid, and I've recently read some of Laurie Kings books (hope that is not considered blasphemy

I'd love to this if it doesn't end up being some kind of epic swap! I just finished reading all of the original Sherlocks (from the Barnes and Noble fancy edition, it's beautiful!) but love pretty much all of it- especially RDJ and BBC's Sherlock. So excited to see more of those!
