My branching out is on hold until my new yarn arrives. I really thought one ball would be enough, but there's my math skills for you.

It's a pity too, because I was on a roll there for a bit and am nearly done

This scarf looks really tempting... I have several other projects planned (currently working on Clapotis, just ordered the yarn for big bad baby blanket), but maybe I can work on this one at the same time?

I'm always looking for stash busters- I have about a skein and a half of some Knit One Crochet Too DK weight merino wool, and about a ball and a third of karabella Aurora 8 (yum!). I think I might not have enough Aurora 8, but I might have enough of the K1C2.

I really want to do it in KnitPicks Shimmer, but out of poverty will use yarn I already have, if I think I have enough.

Wow, PrincessJazz - your scarf looks gorgeous!

I started knitting this with plain ol' black DK acrylic, because it was the first time I'd attempted a lace pattern and I wasnt sure I'd be able to manage it - but (and I'm pretty sure it's not my awful knitting! It does look accurate) it doesn't really seem to do the scarf justice. So I think I'll be popping down to John Lewis' tomorrow, to find something a bit brighter and prettier.

Alright ladies, count me in! I have some hand-dyed "Azalea Pink" yarn from Renaissance Yarns that I'm going to curl up on my bed and cast on right now. I'm mid-sweater and sick of knitting that project for now so I can't wait to do something different!!! Your scarves are all so pretty!!

OK after 2 hours of untangling my yarn and wrapping it into a ball I cast on and I'm already confused. Could someone explain the first row to me, it seems like theres way too many stitches! I know how to do all the stitches but I run out of stitches so I'm doing something wrong here.

The row is
[RS] k3, ssk, yo, k5, (heres where it doesn't make sense to me) [yo, k1] 5 times, yo, k5, yo, K2tog, k3 and you're supposed to have 31 sts.

the way Im reading this there aren't enough stitches to do all that in 25 stitches, can someone break this down for me, I don't get it!!!

You have to k5 twice plus the yo, k1 5 times, what the hell?

the way Im reading this there aren't enough stitches to do all that in 25 stitches, can someone break this down for me, I don't get it!!! I'm gonna go try it again, hopefully I just did something stupid.

Ok, I'l give explaining it a go.  Math is not my friend, so I may screw it up

k3 (equals 3 stitches)
ssk (1)
yo (1)
k5 (5)
yo k1 (2)
yo k1 (2)
yo k1 (2)
yo k1 (2)
yo k1 (2)
yo (1)
k5 (5)
yo (1)
k2tog (1)
k3 (3)

equals 31 stitches.  Are you remembering to do the (yo, k1) 5 times?

Your yarn overs will add 8 stitches, and you'll decrease by two w/ the ssk and the k2tog  (25 plus 8 minus 2=31)

Hope that helps
