I'm delighted (by that I mean deliriously excited) to let y'all know that I entered a little haunted house in the Halloween Decor challenge!  And I wanted to share it with my fellow wee house fans!

I've never made a wee house before (although it has long been a passionate goal), and this one is exterior only.  But I'm nevertheless ridiculously excited to have completed this and to be able to add it to my Halloween goodies every year now!  Thanks for looking!

The work on my latest house seems to be moving quite slowly.... but it's getting there. Right now I'm just trying to finish up making the little things for inside and am almost ready to place them. Here's some fresh exterior shots....







I trekked to Toronto last weekend and went into a miniature shop there. There were LOADS of great things but one of the staff (I think it might have been one of the owners) was pretty damned rude. They had a house there for $20 and told me that it was pretty shoddy... they preferred the more expensive kits. I insisted that I was just messing around and that I was sure the less costly house would be just fine for my purposes Honestly, I think jumping into a huge expensive kit is the absolute wrong thing to do. If you spend $20, get frustrated and abandon your project... no worries. A much better senario than spending $75, $100, $200 and getting halfway done. Anyway, I won't be shopping there again. I hate shops that treat you like crap because they don't think you have any idea what your talking about.

I don't know if it was that, or if it was more your hesitation at spending vast sums of money.  I have found that latter is often the driving factor.

I just saw this, thought it would be neat for making things into wee mirrors. I wonder if it can be crazed with crackle medium for a dirty old mirror look...

craftylittlemonkey, I've seen people use that for making mercury glass jars or aged looking mirrors. The trick is to to spray the glass object with vinegar water while the mirror paint is still wet and then gently wiping it off. It looks pretty darn cool! I wouldn't have thought of doing a miniature mirror with it.
