wwrich, your house looks awesome. I hope to buy a small Greenleaf house sometime.

I'm still slowly working on the furniture and other stuff for inside my house. I'm not sure if I have enough twigs for everything, but there are plenty more in my yard if I run out. I also finished my first mouse resident and I plan to make another. Lately, I've been making some books, kind of combining a few different tutorials.

Yay, more people loving the Calico Critters! I just ordered a bunch for my birthday. *grin* I'll have a kitten plantation. Going to need more houses for them all... Not that I'm complaining. Dammit, really need to find my camera cord so I can take pictures!

I love all the details you are putting in...the framed windows, the" glass "in the door...and nice happy colors for your critters!

You all have no idea how happy it makes me to see comments about our little house!!

My daughter has never been a "doll" person -- she has been collecting/playing with/being kitties for her whole life now.  It just seemed a "natural" thing for us to create a house for them.  She liked the idea of a "kitten plantation" too!  I too, am guilty.  I have been collecting these critters since the 80's!  They went under the name "Sylvanian Families" back then.  I have a whole box of them in the basement, and some of the newer ones in my craft room closet.

The windows are a part of the kit we bought.  The "glass" is included in that.  I am doing a bit more than the kit requires toward finishing them.  (The kit also included shingles for the roof)

Elsbeth wanted lavender walls and darker purple window frames on the outside.  I chose the actual colors and the dark green, because she didn't want to leave her computer game to go to the store that particular day.  We did go together to pick out the "wallpaper", but the first store didn't have anything that matched the one real idea that we had (the fish tank room).  She sort of zoned out at the second store, laying in the shopping cart, playing her nintendo thing, while Mom pushed and shoved the scrapbookers aside to get to the sale papers at JoAnn's.

I hope to glue the basic walls together soon.  Right now, the walls and floors are sitting on the table under some really big books.  I hope they will flatten back out before we glue.

I want to leave work and go work on the house now....

The holes are all cut but need to be fixed (my partner cut a bit crooked) before sanding.

Otherwise, I just finished painting the sand paper that will be used for the shingles!

Total cost so far: $1.41

I went home for Christmas, so I was able to get some pics of the doll house my Dad built me. It needs a good deal of fixing up as it's been in the basement for 30 years, but here it is.

In addition to the teeeny one I posted before, he made a smaller one as a trinket box for my Mom. The roof is the lid.

And he built my Mom a "room box" which she has set up as a family Thanksgiving, her favorite holiday.

Thanks, Teag! He's a pretty awesome Dad.Smiley  He had a woodshop when I was kid. He made most of the furniture in the house & room box as well. He's always been an inspiration! He definitely taught us about making something out of nothing, he was always making animals out of scrap telephone wire, playhouses out of pegboard and o-rings, etc etc. Smiley

Are you going to steam the wallpaper off or just paint over it?   Wink

The cost of my house has skyrocketed.  I went to Dollarama to buy more adhesive shelf/drawer liner for the flooring (it's a wood pattern) and also picked up some scrapbooking pages for the wallpaper.  They didn't carry any solid pages so we took a ride to Michaels.

WELL!

Some of the single sheets there were on sale, as where a couple of the books.  So over $40 later...
