I got the house knickertwist recommended...*hangs head in shame*...it looks more my speed! Cheesy

oh--your wee person looks right at home! Each time I see your floor, I love it...it is beautiful.

I also found the best glue dispenser ever!  The one I bought today has a tiny nozzle and is easily squeezed!  The person at Michael's told me that I can refill it using my big bargain bottle by just watering down the glue a bit...I also got a better xacto knife...hopefully, I won't cut off any more tabs... Cheesy

I am going to an out of town wedding next weekend, and when I get home I am going to get started. I am planning to make a spooky house with minimal interior stuff, and put led candles inside. I'll use it for Halloween decor. Hopefully this year, LOL

Ok, albeit a bit late, but I'm in!

I'm doing the free house katara found.  Can you believe I had an extra dollhouse kit sitting around last summer that I never thought I'd use so I sold it in a garage sale?!?!  So, as of yesterday, I got all of the cardboard pieces cut out and today I made a run to the craft store to stock up on some new decor and supplies.  We have just a tiny craft store, but they had some pretty good things there.  The closest Michaels doesn't have house kits.  That's all ok, I really like this free one!

So I may need some inspiration or ideas as I go along with it.  Right now I'm planning on a witches house.  The printout version of the plans doesn't include an inside second floor, or a main floor now that I think about it, so I need to cut those out.

Question, I have some modge podge and I planned on taking the papers I have to wallpaper the inside and modge podge them on.  Will this work if I paint the outside of the house with craft paint?  I don't know which I should do first??  I'm just using thick corrugated cardboard.  Ideas??

Smiley

Btw, I sooooo did not have this project in my plans right now but after going through this thread a few times how could I not be inspired!!  Cheesy

Looking for Mccalls 6337 sewing pattern, if you have a copy you'd be willing to share/give/sell please let me know.  The bag costs $60 and I think perhaps I could make it cheaper/

Don't feel defeated! I've put together the Victorian and half of the Fantasy house and I have to say the Cottage has been the happiest for me to put together. I love the scale, I love the (relative) ease, and I love the simplicity.

I am so glad others appreciate the floor too. I seriously worked on it for a couple of hours. Not only did I have to paint paint paint so many layers (metallic paint is thin!), I had to sand, black wash, and then I had to get all fancy with those diagonals. I like how it turned out though!

@CabinArts - Yay, you made it! I think Katara's house is a great starting point. I'm not sure how finicky the cardboard is going to be.. I'd probably do a test piece to see if it bows. Maybe mod podge and then put a book on it to lay flat or something?

I made a couple other faces tonight. They have so much personality! I looove them. I'm OK with the fact that they aren't perfect. I am going to Joann's tomorrow to pick up some cloth for my bedding and clothing.

So I spent 2 hours repainting my window frames as I wasn't happy with the original color. It was a lot more finicky to do as I had already glued them in place  Embarrassed

I'm hoping to do some more work on my house today - so there should be some progress shots soon!  Grin

I didn't get to work much last night on the house. I finished up the windows for the study and experimented with some furniture placement. The scale of the furniture is a bit big, but I like the way it looks, still. I have some leather scraps that I want to use to upholster the armchair, office chair seat and piano bench. I'll have to look for a tutorial on that.

All I have left to do for the house is the ceilings in the study, staining the stair landings, doing some kind faux finish on the outside, and touch-ups on the trim and edges. Oh, and the small window area for the study. Did I say all I have to do? Smiley

I can't wait to start working on the furniture and decor!

Let me know if you come across any good use for your leather scraps! I can't wait to see your leather furniture...I have a small bag of scraps that I have been saving since the 70's...I might finally be able to use them! Grin

lvlOrg4n, your little faces are amazing!
alwaysinmyroom, you could use your leather scraps to make tiny books-maybe even fill a bookcase!
