This is beautiful. I love the sheer detail. The little puddle of grape juice and little feet.....Just makes you want to look at it more and more.

Hello!

I have been reading this thread for a week now, on and off, and you're all so amazingly creative!
I'm so inspired now that I'm afraid my head is going to explode. I have ordered a couple of wee houses, but will have to wait a while before they arrive. So I may just have to make something out of cardboard. Everything I have seen here is so impressive! Great work everyone!

Looking forward to seeing your work, Marimeis!  I keep hoping to get back to this medium, but other projects always pull me away....  Roll Eyes

Building your own wee houses out of cardboard and boxes is the best. I just finished one for the OTT October swap, can't post yet and I built the whole silly little thing. I received some excellent cardboard as packaging around a product I bought and I think I was happier with the cardboard! All that free packaging is great, clear plastic for windows and it makes good shrinky dinks too.

Other great items to have on hand is polymer clay...any color as you can paint it if necessary, wire, balsa wood, beads. Caps from products...especially makeup items, etc.

And I buy up the little wooden kits they sell for building your own ship or whatever. They have wheels and little bits of wood that can be used to build other things. Look for them in the kids or wood section at your craft store. I find them often by the cash registers and they usually don't cost much.

Since I'm new here, it will take a while before I can post pictures.

I already have the Victorian type creatology house. Even though its called something else, it is identical to those I have seen in this thread. But I don't want to start with that house, it seems better to start out with the veranda type house. Fewer bits to put together must be easier? I have never built a house before, except the shoe box houses I made when I was a kid.

I do have a couple of houses though. The oldest one is a Lundby house from 1972, it's in pretty bad condition. I want to fix it up, but it's a bit intimidating. I figure it's better to get a little bit of experience before I try to fix that one. It feels so serious, sitting on top of my book shelf.

Right now I'm more in to fantasy houses, like fairy houses and gnomes and things like that. I have cardboard boxes I could use, and I also have a house shaped box of wood. Maybe that is the place to start? I've been creative all my life, so I have a lot of stuff. Like jewelry supplies, fimo, fabric of all kinds, scrapbooking papers, buttons and lace and more. I've collected "scrap" for years, and I always see things with mini-eyes.

Now I really hope this thread won't die, because it's the most inspiring place on the internet. It makes me a little bit sad to see that the activity here is rather slow now. I want to inspire others the way everyone in this thread has inspired me. Thank you Knickertwist for starting this thread years ago, and thanks to everyone that has participated in this craftalong!

I am always in awe of the amazing houses and details added in this craftalong. I always thought that I would just admire and making fussy little things wasn't for me, but I caught the bug.

I am working on a house made out of cardboard. I crafted the pattern myself because I wanted it to open up and reveal all kinds of goodies inside. The floor will eventually overlap and be glued together to provide a solid base. I wanted the roof to open like an attached lid. It's only about 4 inches square. Wish me luck.

I have plans for a fireplace, cabinet, work table, little potion bottles, books, etc. etc.

Cmarion3, that is so tiny! It looks a bit fairytale like, with the angle on the door and the windows. Good luck!
