I made my first corespun yarn!! go me!!

Its hand washed raw Border Leicester locks hand dyed with food coloring wrapped around a boucle core.

I brushed out the cut side of the lock but left the curly tip to add texture. You can see the pics of the freshly dyed locks on fiber friday July 15th

And Now The Yarn!!

I dub thee,
Mer-locks

pardon the cruddy phone pics cant find the cord for the camera

And a close up:

I could only fit 34 yrds on my bobbin but I still have ALOT of locks left so I'll be making Mer-Locks for at least another month.

Sprocketfox, that is beautiful. I love the colorway, and it looks sooo soft and yummy. Great work.

Bella -- I love your yarn with the flowers and can't wait to see what you made with it!  I have yet to spin anything with add-ins, but want to try it soon.  I think you should show us your homework yarns too!

Great job, sprocketfox!  Your corespun looks so soft and warm!  Reminds me of dragonfly wings.

LaughingLark, I think Fighting Irish would be really pretty plied with itself.  Love the sort of metallic sheen to it.

Jexx -- I see some way yummy cowls being made from your yarns.

Candy Stripes has to be the happiest yarn this week -- my favorite!!  It is like those displays of candy sticks in old-timey candy stores!  Your plies look really even.  Great job!!

I didn't spin anything this week b/c I've been finishing up crocheting my entry for the Sheep to Shawl challenge.  I almost lost my whole entry on Thursday, by the way.  I was walking with my son, got to our destination, and realized the whole shawl and ball of yarn had fallen out of my bag!!  I don't know how it could have fallen without me noticing it.  We had to retrace our steps and found it laying on the sidewalk a block back.  I was so glad we found it!!!

You guys do such beautiful work! I always have sneak in and take a peek every week! Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe one day I'll get the balls to try spinning. Smiley
