I was in a need of a new bag, especially because I got an ipad for my birthday and wanted a safe place for it when I am out...

So I came up with this...

the orange linen is from a thrift store table cloth I found years ago and have been saving ever since for the perfect project... I wanted to make a skirt of it also, so I reserved enough fabric to do that later on and used the remainder for this bag...

On the inside there is a pocket in the back that is padded and is a perfect fit for the ipad and on the other side of that pocket there are additional pockets for cell phone/ keys etc...

On the other side of the main pocket there is a zippered pocket and then on the front of the bag there is another large pocket.

To hold the batting in place in the back I tried my hand at some free-motion embroidery... which once I got the hang of, I found much easier than I thought it would be...

The flap is my favourite... a nice big dresden flower using some of my absolute favourite fabrics Smiley

I'll be working on a tutorial/pattern in the next little while and will share that on my blog Smiley http://paxye.com/blog/my-new-messenger-bagpurse/

Aren't thrift stores excellent?  I really like the orange and the flower!

Really nice - love the texture look of the linen with the quilting and the flowers.  Great colors, too!

Just lovely!  So much detail eveywhere.  Obviously, a lot of time was spent creating it.
