Tomorrow is my mother's birthday and I wanted to make her something special as we no longer live close.  So I made her a virtual cake.  I mean it's real, it's vanilla bean sponge with chocolate ganache filling, covered in fondant but since we live 1000 miles apart she only gets to see it online.  Best of all cakes, calorie free!

I also wanted to try my hand again at character models using gumpaste and since the new Muppets movie is coming out (can't wait) I thought I'd mix the two together!

So this is for my mum, who loves the two old crumudgeon's in the box Smiley

Shots of the cake!

and the boys!

Thanks for looking, comments always welcome

That's awesome! Statler and Waldorf are my favorites, too!

Oh wow that's an amazing cake! I'm sure your mother will be thrilled! Cheesy

I have a similar arrangement with some of my friends since we all live in different countries we always bake cakes for each other on each birthday and we each get a picture of the cake with a candle on top held into the camera by the others. It's always great fun! Grin

This is awesome! Statler ans Waldorf are childhood favorites.  You did an amazing job on this cake.  I feel a little bad that your mom doesn't get to eat this vanilla bean sponge cake with chocolate ganache filling.  That does sound good.  How did you get into cake decorating?  Did you take classes?  Are you guys excited about the new Muppet movie?

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are  --John Wooden
