So these rainbow cakes are all over Pinterest, and when I first saw it, I knew I wanted to try it.
I am not much of a baker, but I have been in the mood to try new things lately.  So here ya go.
I took pictures of just about every step, so it is somewhat of a picture tutorial I guess.

And all these colors remind me of Care Bears!

Start with the essentials.  I went with the 4 egg white option.
Ohh, pre-heat your oven!

Add eggs, oil, and water.

Mix it all together.

Separate into as many bowls as you will have colors.  I mixed red and blue for purple!

Add food coloring.

Mix them all together.  Something to think about-- use different utensils for mixing.
I wasted a bit wiping the knife I used going from color to color. I know, I'm silly!

Randomly add the colors to your cake pan. I wish I had a fancy round one!

I think it looks like the food from 'HOOK' the Robin Williams movie of the Peter Pan story.
The part where they were teaching him how to use his imagination at dinner time, and
they end up having a food fight!

A shot from the oven!

Hot from the oven!

I forgot to grease the dish (told you I am not much for baking) so instead of tearing
it to pieces getting it out, I just frosted it in the dish.  Look at those colors!

My dirty dishes have never been so happy and colorful! Smiley

Yum!  Now I'm hungry for cake.  I like the way your cake came out - now, I must go bake me a cake.  Cheesy

Thanks for commenting guys!
I never would have thought to do something like this on my own, and so glad I came across a tute on Pinterest.
If I had a Birthday cake like this when I was a little girl I would have been ecstatic!  It was super fun to make,
and tasted yum yum yummy!

Oh, one tip to remember. Icing a warm cake with whipped frosting, not a good idea. It doesn't melt... it separates!
Luckily I was able to take care of it!

THANKS!  Cheesy
Is it so easy, and fun!  Some yellow and orange would be great for turkey day, and red, green, and a little white for xmas.
Red white and blue for 4th of July, or Memorial Day.  It is super easy, and would be fun to do with kids.
