I've been making all sorts of things recently, but I've only just got round to taking photos of some of my completed projects.

Here are my Mother and Child Spirits, the blue ones are Water Spirits and the russet ones are Earth Spirits. They are little creatures of nature who look after the world and each other.

It was interesting to work with mohair yarns when I made them. It's not easy to work out the relative thickness of the yarns, and the Earth Spirits are quite a bit larger than the Water Spirits. The yarns are nice colours though, and I liked the way they looked when I brushed them up to be fluffy.

----------------------------------------------------

I recently entered a competition to design an amigurumi for the UK crochet magazine, Inside Crochet, and I was delighted to win! My design was for a fairly chubby little owl wearing a stripy pullover.

Here's my first attempt, which my son named Flappy and promptly stole! I used spike stitch on the stripes which gave an interesting effect, but made the fabric too stiff. I wanted my owl to be a bit rounder in the middle, so I changed to more straightforward stripes. I also wanted his head to look more like it was only just peering over the top of his roll-neck, so I made his head a bit shorter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we watched The Deathly Hallows part 1 again to prepare for part 2, my son got very upset over the death of Dobby. In fact, he was in floods of tears and kept saying "I hate J K Rowling!" So, I promised to make him his own little Dobby that he could cuddle and love forever, and I finally got it finished this week.

I'd love to hear what you think of all my latest efforts!

I'm SO jealous of your crochet skills. your spirites are always...whats the word... graceful? the way the yarn is brushed it gives them a real sense of movement.
and your owl is cute it made me think of Pigwidgeon. ya know like if molly weasly went on a knitting rampage and stuffed pig into his own sweater. lol
and yor doby is spot on and happy looking
