I saw a hat like this the other day online and my son freaked.  He LOVES Nemo.  So I made him one for his birthday next month.  He is going to have a nemo birthday party so it will fit in great.

lying flat from the side

The tail sticks out and wiggles when he walks. I wasn't able to get a pic with him wearing it cause he wouldn't hold still.  Hope you all like it.

Awe! It's awesome. My 4yo son also likes the hat. He seen it and asked could I make him one. You even put in the big fin and little fin. How long did it take to make the hat?

I really didn't time it I did it in a two day plan.  First day make the hat part  (I used a simple beanie hat pattern I found online for free)second day make his stripes fins eyes tail and attach so it wasn't very long.  The only thing I did notice was that the hat part fit snug but once I added the stripes it stretched out a bit.  So If I was to do it again I would make the hat a little smaller.  But he loves it and that's all that matters.
