Have this casserole dish I love to use, but when it is fresh out of the oven it is really hot. Using pot holders to pass something around the table is kind of awkward, and I've not been able to find anything that would hold it.

So necessity being the mother of invention...I give you the pot holder that is also a hot pad!
From underneath

On the handles

Just used a simple tea towel, with thin batting. Put a strip of elastic to keep it on the dish while being passed, and a sample of checked binding. Not really matching my kitchen decor, but I wanted do a test run.

Will for sure be making more of these for other casserole dishes I have. Smiley

I totally agree! So simple and yet so original and useful!
Is it easy to slip onto the hot pot though?

Will check on the patent for the idea. And yes, it is very easy. Wanted to make sure it could be done right out of the oven.

Brilliant idea.  I think we all have casseroles like this where this would be perfect.  If I could sew at all, I would make me several.

This absolutely rocks.  Yes, you should try to make money from this idea, even if you don't produce and sell your own, you should look into selling the idea!  It's brilliant.  Meantime, I'm going to try to make a couple of those!
