Our dog Buddy is 14 years old, and sometimes in his sleep he has little accidents. So with the help of my fellow mods on Craftster I found a thing called a belly band.

Looked on the net and found out how to make one. Made one for Bud today, and it seems to be okay. Course Buddy is not real happy he has to wear it.

Here he is wearing it, and giving me the hairy eyeball for putting him in this thing.

And here just ignoring me all together.

This was very easy to make. I followed this tutorial roughly. Except I made it from t-shirt fabric with a man's incontinence pad.

Awww. He's cute. Good idea. Never thought of something like that. Does he wear it all the time?

Thank you! We think he is pretty cute also. Wink

Right now he is only wearing it at bedtime. Till he gets used to wearing it. Then probaly while he is in between walks.

Bud woke this morning to a dry bed! Took his belly band off and the pee was safely on the pad. Smiley Worked and he slept through the night.

great idea!   I was trying to figure out how it worked but I had stuck in my mind the image of a diaper. It's for a male dog?  So it wraps around the ...ehh hum...widdle? So..if he pees it hits the diaper. I don't know why I had such a hard time visualizing it Cheesy Smiley

What a great idea for your pooch!

Took me a bit to wrap my head around it, too! You can actually even use sanitary napkins instead of the incontinence pads.

While you did a great job with the belly band... have you brought your dog to the vet for his accidents?
My dog is 15 and never pees on herself like that.  She will pee in the house, but not like you said your
dog does.  It is not normal for that to happen.  I hate to be the one to bring up bad news, but it is a
possibility there is something wrong going on there.

Thank you for your concern, but yes I have taken Bud to the vet.

It is common for older males to have minor accidents in their sleep. His back end is weak and sometimes he looses control.

The belly band is working great, and his bed has been dry since the band was made. Smiley

Awww, Buddy you look like such a distinguished gentledog in your dashing belly band!  It must be so nice to find such a cost effective and non-invasive solution!  It would be tempting to make them look like cummerbunds, no?
