I have seen crayons melted with a hot glue gun recently but I like how the crayons have been attached here. Fabulous idea!

I'm thinking once I can get a canvas I may try this with an iron since I don't have a heat gun.  It might work...

I'd say to try a hair dryer but I suspect you really need to heat the wax to a high temperature to get it to flow down the canvas. You could get the wax to melt but it wouldnt be a river of colour just half melted. Some may set too soon.
