Yes, I love the charm. I have more pics - I just didn't want to hog the thread. I'll upload more to my photo hosting site so folks can look.

That cover is wonderful, -zoma-. Beautiful work!

I'm always surprised when people say "I only do Coptic binding because I'm too intimidated to try full binding." Because I just don't see that Coptic is that much simpler. Case bindings are like two additional steps, and that's it! If you can do one, you can do the other - really!

Maybe case bindings only seem more complex when reading the instructions, but it sure seems like their is more to it than just two more steps. The biggest part that I'm not sure about is the rounding of the spine so that the papers line up correctly. I've read how it works, but it seems very fiddly. Plus I really like the look of coptic and japanese stab bound books. Smiley

Prepare to be jealous. I received my journal from Smmarrt yesterday!

On overall shot: from right to left, journal, Altered Images book, Attracting Birds to your Garden, and album cover.

You can see the button closure on the journal - I really like this.

Awesome leaf resist watercolour spatter title page.

Some of my favourite pages:

I love this idea - plastic windows from envelopes

A prompt page: the pictures are sidewalks - I'm to use them as inspiration.

tissue paper leaves - I can't wait to get my hands on some bleeding tissue to try this myself!

both Smmarrt and I like kraft paper and birds  Smiley

this will serve as a really good reminder for me!

One of the extras - a thrifted book on attracting birds to your backyard. Smmarrt couldn't have known, but I have a growing collection of vintage and antique books on birds. I absolutely LOVE the illustrations in this one, I can't wait to start scanning them to use in my journal (NOT going to cut this one up)

Love the texture on this page: blue paint sprayed over mesh fabric. Gorgeous.

If you remember Smmarrt had a mishap with the first cover, but she sent it anyway for me to use. My other love is gardening - I just wish this was what I look like when I'm in the garden. lol. I'm torn though, whether to use it for a cover for a garden journal/log (on my to do list) or to use it for an altered art project.

I didn't take pictures of the other extras (Smmarrt totally spoiled me): Ghiardelli chocolate (yummmmmmmmm) a Copic multiliner, and a set of inspiration cards. I'm really looking forward to using everything!

So spoiled. And very very happy.
Thanks again Smmarrt!

WOW smmarrt!!! I love all the techniques that you've spread out around your journal! I use post it notes as a resist to leave space to write in my journal, but it never occured to me to extend that trick to leaves or other shapes.

Awesome stuff!!! I'm hoping that when I get home Sunday night I will have a journal waiting for me that I can show everyone!!!

The texture on those pages is AMAZING! SO inventive  Smiley
I....finished my journal. Not happily since the binding did NOT go well but I really like the solution I came up with for the cover. The fabric is GORGEOUS!!!! It's very.....art project-ish (as in, never before done art project; full of mistakes) -.-UU Not as nicely bound and covered as these other journals but definitely unique. I'll probably be sending today.

So glad you're happy, Claire. And I plan to learn your binding method so I can use more album covers.

And remember - I teach art to preschoolers. So alot of what I do is what I do with children. Simple but fun.
We love spray bottles, so we often spray toys and other stuff from the classroom.

I found a wonderful use for the journal I got from Kartiana. A DREAM JOURNAL. I have them every night and they're so vivid but I don't want to forget so I'm putting my most important dreams in the journal for later use. And now I don't haev to worry about mucking up the lovely pages with nothing important or depressing things. LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU Reinikka!!!!
She should be getting her journal tomorrow  Undecided
