I've been wanting to try out making plarn and making things with plarn for a while and I've finally gotten around to it. This necklace took a blue bag to make the two blue flowers and part of a green bag for the chain. I want to give it to a friend as part of a birthday present but I'm worried that it might not look nice enough. I'd really love to know whether you think it looks cool or trashy.     Also do you prefer it with or without a button/bead in the middle? all but the pearl bead are retro buttons that were from my grandmother in laws stash and probably came off of old shirts so still go with the recycling theme)

no bead/button

with clear faceted button

with mother of pearl button

with faux pearl bead

Comments and criticisms are very welcome and appreciated!

The flower is nice by itself and with the pearl button. Maybe you could put it on a leather strand to give it  a look more professional.
If you are worried it is not enough, why don't you give something else with it, maybe a coordinated bracelet and ring, or a hat with flower or some real flowers.
Hope this helps.

I like the button in the middle. Gives it some visual punch.

Have you considered affixing multiple flowers to the necklace instead of one focal flower?

I did think that the green strand looked a little bare. maybe adding a couple of smaller flowers would help. A leather cord could work maybe add a couple of green leaves if I go that route.   I'm also making a crocheted flower necklace out of thread which I'm fairly confident looks nice.

Very cool.  I prefer it with the clear faceted button in the center.  I think it would hang better on a chain than on the plarn cord.  Nice use of recycled bags - it will be a lovely gift.
