I'm a newbie @ knitting and I have a pair of 29" circular needles. I want to make an Ipod cozy for my mini.  Can I use the circ needles?  What exactly are circ needles good for making?

you could use them - either knit normally with them (just pretend there's no cord between the tips, and knit back and forth) or use the Magic Loop method to knit a small (ipod sized) tube.

Circular needles are usually used to knit tubes that are slightly larger than the length of the needle, or to knit really wide flat things (like afghans) that wouldn't fit on regular straight needles.

Thanks  Smiley I've been doing so well with regular needles that I don't want to get discouraged using circs.  I'm going to practice with my arcrylic yarn first before beginning my project.
