Friends of Craftster Bead Soup Swap (Round 5)

Recently, I've had a few people send PMs asking if there is going to be another round of Bead Soup Swap anytime soon.  It has been a year since the last round, so I guess it is time!   Cheesy  For those of you who haven't seen one before, the Bead Soup Swap is a way for you to pass on some quality beads that you have, but might not have a use for, to someone who can use them, and a way for you to get some new goodies for your stash at the same time.  This round there will be no acrylic/plastic beads allowed.

In this swap each participant is required to send a minimum of 1 full cup of "average sized" (about 5-8mm) beads to their partner, as well as one Small-Medium crafted item inspired by your partners interests. Sending more beads is allowed if you wish, but only after checking with your partner, so no one accidentally feels slighted.  It is left to partners to decide the fairness/quantity on swapping other sized beads, like tiny seed beads or giant over-sized ones, or including items like findings, charms and buttons, so you can work out a fair "trade" for everyone involved.

The Small-Medium sized crafted item should be a gift for your partner like a simple bracelet, a beaded bookmark, or 1-2 pairs of earrings. These crafted components should be kept small so that you have enough time to craft, as well as pack and send out, in a short period of time.  Usually about 2 weeks from when partners are assigned, to send out time.  This round, people will be allowed to have either 1 or 2 partners.  Any first time swappers will be limited to 1 partner.

Additionally, this swap is slightly different in its setup than most others.  After filling out your questionnaire, I will match givers up to receivers.  This means that I will try to find a good home for the types of beads you HAVE, and I will try to find someone who has the kinds of beads YOU would like to use.  Often, this means you are not sending to and receiving from the same person.  Because of that, I tend to be strict on how questionnaires are filled out.  Incomplete questionnaires will be sent back until they are filled out properly.   Tongue  Trust me, after running 4 rounds of this swap, it's best this way because everyone is more likely to end up with a package they love!   Cheesy

Finally, I must stress that this swap is NOT a way to dump bags of plastic pony beads on someone else, and receive Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stone in return.  Believe me, NO ONE signs up for these swaps asking for plastic/acrylic beads.  You must be willing to share nice beads with your partners, that they will enjoy, if you hope to get nice things in return.  As such, I am going to make this round Friends of Craftster only, since these people have demonstrated true craftster spirit in the giving of funds to keep the site running, or in giving of their time by Angeling in a swap for a flaked member. Perhaps next round will be open to everyone again.  Click here to learn more about becoming a Friend of Craftster!

If you are interested, please leave a reply below.  Once we have enough people interested we'll figure out sign-ups.  Also, be sure to leave a time frame that's best for you.  We usually do 2 weeks of sign-ups, and 2 weeks of crafting.   Kiss

So far the proposed time frame is as follows:
Sign-ups August 19th-September 2nd
Sendouts: September 16th

But I love seed beads - especially if they are Delicas or Toho Treasures!

I was been waiting for another round, but what kind of time line are you thinking?

Hi Onyxnox!  Well, if some people are interested in receiving seed beads, I will leave it open as a possibility.  Smiley  But please know that when I said "no" to them, it was because when people sign up wanting to pass these on, it is usually NOT high quality ones, but rather cheap ones they picked up years ago and never found use for.   It seems each round someone mails a box of seed beads to someone who doesn't want it and can't use it in their crafting.  Sad

I was been waiting for another round, but what kind of time line are you thinking?

Well, if there's interest, I'd say start sign-ups on Friday, August 19th-September 2nd.  Then Send Outs on September 16th.  But I'm open to other ideas.

I love bead soup!

Sigh... foiled by inability to be super active during the summer... This would have been an awesome first swap!

This is actually a very nice way to swap without being "super active", since you are only required to craft 1 small item. Smiley  (Something that would take you about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete, or a value of about $5.)  You do however, have to be a Friend of Craftster to join this round.

I am totally excited about this swap!!I understand the rules. However, could we send seed beads, charms, or even buttons as extras if our partners don't mind?

BRING ON THE SIGNUP!!
