Is age for swapping 16 or 18?

My youngest daughter is turning 16 soon and has been looking forward to joining Craftster and especially making things for swaps. I am encouraging her, since both her older sister and I enjoy Craftster so much, and she really enjoys making things for people. Now comes the problem. Although in multiple places it states that Craftsters must be 16 in order to swap, I have not been able to find a single swap that doesn't list 18 as the required age. I don't want to set her expectations that she will be able to participate in this community the way that we do if she is not allowed to be a full member...

If the rule really is 16 to swap, I would like to encourage organizers to think about lowering the age on their swaps to include our younger members (when appropriate). I have seen some amazingly skilled teens here and hate to think that we are excluding them for no reasons except that we expect to have a difficult time with them...

DawnsTrees, I didn't check over ALL of the current swaps in signups, but I checked over at least half of them and I didn't see any additional age restrictions. There IS the requirement to be at least 18 years old to organize a swap--is that perhaps what you are seeing?

I think most of the swaps don't have any additional age requirements outside of the general swap rule.

If you read all the questionares that you fill out for the swaps they ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older so I couldn't see why there would be a problem. If she wants to swap right when she turns 16 she should sign up now to get her minimum posts and month on here all finished

Okay - this is why I should NOT be allowed to post anything at 2 a.m. (especially after a momma-bear type of day). I am really embarrassed now.    Yes, I was reading the organizer requirements, not the swapper requirements. oops.

So, I now have to apologize for all of the grumpy thoughts I  had about all of the wonderful people here. ***sheepishly slinking off***

Hi all I am a newbie, been a member for ages but have not posted a lot. I would love participate in a swap. Could I ask what the min post is?? I could easily chat and chat if required...I do like the idea of a Christmas theme swap for virgins ( I have done swaps on other forums) thanks char

you just have to post at least 15 times, be on here for at least a month, and be at least 16 years old. all the other rules are posted here:
http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html you should definately read it over before joining a swap.

Honestly, despite the fact that you were reading the organizer rules by mistake, there is actually some legitimacy to what you said. PeachieClean isn't quite 18 yet and pointed out recently that there were next to no swaps where it was 16+ lately, and the few that were, they were swaps she wasn't interested in. I was really confused by that because when I 1st started swapping and up til now, I'd never really had any trouble finding 16+ swaps (But I did always have mega envy over the few that I would wanna join that would end up 18+ lol), so I looked around after she told me that, and almost all the swaps actually were 18+. I'm still noticing it. I can understand a larger swap being 18+ to try to minimize flakers or something, but having an OTT swap be 18+ seems a little overboard in my opinion.

all the 18+ swaps ive seen had a mature theme to it..i know one tiny thing swaps tend to have a theme like one tiny harry potter thing swap so maybe the one you saw had a mature theme to it? otherwise i think it would be weird to make sure it was 18+ for any swap really.
