I've been wanting to do some sort of mermaid stitching for aaaages and have finally gotten around to making one Cheesy
Working for Disney this naturally took on a bit of a "Little Mermaid" theme, gotta love Ariel!  The mermaid is a sublime stitching pattern, but the rest of the sea creatures and waves are from Aimee Ray's awesome Doodle Stitching book's!! I am totally in love with her books at the moment!!  The scrolly seaweed was freehand stitched by myself.  Mostly stitched in two strands of thread.  I have used mainly back stitch, with some satin stitch.  After all the stitching was done I thought it lacked a bit of colour so crayon tinted some sections to brighten it up a bit. I added sequins to the mermaids tail and also the waves as I cannot resist a bit of sparkle!!  I've wrapped some blue ribbon around the outer hoop to hide the horrible baby pink colour!!! More info and pics on my blog: http://embroideryemporium.blogspot.com/2011/08/under-sea.html    Here's some pics -

Thanks for looking, V x

That's absolutely adorable. I especially love the little crab! I'll be pinning this to my "embroidery hoops" pinterest board.

This would look so cute in a child's bedroom. Great job with the variety of plants and animals.

I found these 4x5 plastic picture protectors and I want to fill them up with YOUR art. Let's swap.
