First off, let me say thank you so much to I Sew Cute for the inspiration: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=376847.0
Here's the end product:
You can see the spots where I messed up, but they're not noticeable in person.
So, I forgot to take before pictures, but here is the hideous brown that it has been for the last 30 years or more (it was my mom's when she was a kid):
When I stripped that off, lo and behold, there was a pretty blue underneath! Now who in their right mind painted it brown?! (probably my mother)
Stripping furniture is awful and I will never do it again! I got about this far and just said screw it! and started priming it.
After a coat of primer and 2 coats of robin's egg blue paint, I sprinkled pastel blue glitter and a little white glitter and started on the resin top. It was my very first time working with something like that, and it was pretty difficult, and I made some mistakes, but I am so in love! It sat in my friends garage for 3 days curing and this is the pic I snapped before I loaded it up:
That is the reflection of the sky that day!
And here's a better pic from my iphone that picked up the glitter better:
And closeups of the knobs I bought at Cost Plus World Market. They were only about $3-5 each. (if you don't know about that store, look it up, it's amazing)
I really liked the square knobs because they had the same blue, and I think they will go well with my desk chair I'm in the process of recovering. Hopefully, I'll finish it before Fall Semester starts!
C&C welcome and appreciated!
