So I think the "this project contains mature content" is great. Gives people a head's up. But, can it be broken down into more specifics some how? See, I don't mind "adult" themes like embroidery with certain anatomical references for example, but what I *DO* mind is crafts made from dead animals. And, without some kind of better identification of why the topic is mature content, I've unfortunately clicked through before expecting one thing, but getting something else entirely.

Perhaps the mature content could be expanded a little? "this project contains mature content of a sexual nature" and "this project contains mature content of a potentially disturbing nature" or something. Surely you can come up with better phrase than my off-the-cuff suggestion.

I know I can't be the only person to be seriously bothered by certain types of posts and who would like to completely avoid them in the future.

Thanks

I'd like this too (for the same reasons as the first poster!) but I can see how it could end up over-complicated.  I always click the mature links first (ha) but dead animals are still an unpleasant surprise.  Maybe things could be split into sweary stuff, naked stuff and disturbing stuff?  I'm aware that disturbing as a label is pretty subjective but I'd be willing to give up cross-stitched bloody eyeballs and such if it meant I could avoid roadkill art (and still get my profanity/nudity fix).  I can't think of a mature project right now that doesn't come under one of those three headings (naked/sweary/disturbing).

I agree with this, and also have another point about 'adult content'

When people post 'mature content' images within 'normal' posts the warning is AFTER the image. The post I'm thinking about is this one: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=392084.msg4665998#msg4665998 (Although I've just realised that doesn't even have a warning!)  I don't have a problem with that post - I think it's funny, but I know some people could be offended, and I know I was looking at this thread with my son, and again, it doesn't particularly worry me that he might see something like this, but it could offend some people.

So can we have something at the TOP of a post that says if it contains mature content, so theres a chance for people to skip that post if they want to (maybe with 'next post' option to make the skipping easy?)

Agreed with all points. Putting warnings below seems a little after-the-fact to me.

Maybe there should be some sort of little input box for people to answer "what is the mature content?" or whatnot? Then they can say "profanity" or "deal animal" or "gore" or whatever, or else make tickboxes for it and people can tick off the box(es) related to their content, and so then the warning will say "Mature content due to: profanity" etc...

I know I told you this in another thread but I'm going to say it here for anyone who didn't see that.

This is related to your settings. You have your preferences set to see mature images. If you go to your profile and then "Look and Layout prefences" one of the first options listed is "Show Mature Images" if you are set to Yes, you'll see them. If you're set to No then you'll see the warning image only and have to click through to view the image.

I know you were replying to another poster with this but in my case, it's not that it's a mature image. I don't mind seeing naughty embroidery so I don't want to turn it off completely. The problem is that even if I DID turn it off, there's no difference in why it's "mature." I don't want to have to miss every single "mature" post on the possible chance that it contains something like a dead animal but I really am deeply bothered by that and don't want to see those kinds of topics. How can this be changed to better define what type of content makes it mature is what I'm asking for.

Thanks.

I understand what you're asking for, we just don't have options like that at the moment.

maybe instead of making the mature image tag system more complicated there should just be a push for people to be more descriptive in their titles so it can be figured out from the subject why the project might have the tag.  or like, if you're going to use the mature tag have a disclaimer at the beginning of the post like, "this post contains mature content because of ____."
i think there'll always be the problem though of people having differing ideas of what needs the mature image tag in the first place.   Undecided

But that wouldn't do anything for the swap galleries. Granted, the dead animal thing probably wouldn't be occurring in swaps, but still, for everything else... And as for putting text at the beginning, that's fine, but normally you'd still be seeing the image right away, as a couple lines of text aren't enough to put it all the way off the screen.

Agreed. It would be best if there was a way to get the warning in a better way without risk of seeing the image(s).
