This is a portrait of myself that I gave to my husband for his birthday last year. My first thought was to give him a portable Victorian-style portrait, but then I realized that that was what I wanted, not him. So, I tweaked the idea to be a little more his style. I printed a picture of myself on cardstock, and painted over it with acrylics. I covered a cheapy wooden frame from Joann's with some extra red silk I had and some glue, then went crazy with lace, ribbons, rosettes, and glitter. He loved it, and recognized me immediately. I'll never forget the look of shock he had on his face when he opened it!
