I think this is where it should go  Huh

Anyways, I found this old desk on the side of the road (annoying trick I learned from my father) and thought I could fix it up nice for my niece. Here's a couple shots of when I found it (I started sanding the top before I thought to take pictures)

And in the painting process:

And finished Cheesy

The top is done in chalkboard paint.

Pay no attention to the dog Wink

I've seen a lot cooler ones posted online before, but sadly I went with what my sister in law would like vs colors I would do for a kid (Bright bight bright!)

What do you think?

I think it's fantastic! Good job saving something from going to the landfill!!! I love the idea of the chalk board paint on the desk.

It looks great! The mellow colors are good, I think, because it'll stay a deco piece after your niece grows up. What a lucky find!!!

You did a great job!  Those desks where the chair is attached to the desk are classic, and even I would love to have one around my house for decoration.  I know my 1 year old son would probably adore it too.  Those desks are timeless.

I really hate seeing furniture getting thrown out.  I have that annoying rescue tendency too (I live in a pretty wasteful neighborhood and trust me, it does get annoying after a while to see all the stuff that's being thrown out), and I redo tables I find on the curb.  So many people just don't get that furniture can have a whole new life with a little cleaning and a couple coats of paint.

i swear that chalkboard paint has to be the best stuff ever.

What an awesome job of re-vamping that find! I've seen those desks for sale at my local thrift shops before and they don't go cheap.
Your find was a great one!
