I made this as a gift for my niece's first birthday and I've been waiting to post until she got it.  It's embroidery floss on cotton in a 7" hoop.  I used outline stitch, backstitch, a tiny bit of satin stitch on the ladybug and a slightly altered chain stitch on the border.  It was a challenge (check out my blog for more info on that http://embroidnerd.blogspot.com/2011/08/little-side-project.html) and about halfway through I very nearly tossed it (I tend to hit that wall with everything I make but have learned that I very rarely end up with an unsuccessful piece as long as I just stick with it).  I started it in June but had to get some things done for a show so in real time it took almost two months.  As far as actual work time I'd say it took maybe 8 hours.  Kind of a long time for the size but I wanted that chainstitch as even as possible so there was measuring and a few do overs involved.  So, without further ado, I present a portrait of my gorgeous niece:

The stitched border gives it a neat vintage look.

That's absolutely lovely!  Very smooth stitching.

Thanks all!   Grin I'm happy to report that it arrived safe and sound (mailing these things always makes me nervous)
