I love Project Runway, and the new season (number 9) started last week. Well, I joined a challenge at flicker that lets me play along. It's called Project Project Runway http://www.flickr.com/groups/1462857@N20/ and we are using dolls as our models (since it's more about the clothes then the dolls I am putting it here rather then the toy forum..I could be wrong tho.  EDIT: I was wrong...I'm in the toy section now Grin))  Originally I used my doll Zoey( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=372484.msg4382655#msg4382655 ) as the model, but her huge hair didn't work with the dress... So, I introduce Iris in my first Project Project Runway design....

The skirt is a double circle skirt...which doesn't hang too well on such a little body.  So I threaded some wire into the hem so I could control the drape.

On the original PR, they were woken up at 6AM and asked to come with what they had on, and one of the sheets off of the bed.  In PPR we were told to use fabric from our PJ's and a 10 inch square of white fabric. Since I had made a pair of PJ's for a challenge recently, I used that, and a white on white print.

I used a long needle to help me keep the pin tucks strait.

Here's the top and the belt all pin tucked up.
Thanks for looking Grin

Second Round: Our challenge this week  was to buy the suplies for our outfits from the pet store.  I chose the pet section of the dollar store since I'm cheap.

I mostly picked cat toys so the scale would be closer

And this is what I came up with..

This is my model from the Dali School of madeling.  She showed up just in time for the photo shoot.  She had her darling cat named Catnip with her, so I let her walk the runway too.

I used the green and white cat ball for her sun glasses. The catnip fish was stuffed with the reddish fluff. I used that and one of the bags to create a faux vinyl boucl. The rest of the catnip toy (which contained no catnip as far as I could tell. Just itchy stuff) became her jacket and her bag. The handle of the bag is the tail from the mouse. Her moccasin boots are made from the tiny tennis ball and some of the mouse for the soles (and laced up by a drunken monkey it seems...)

Lots of hand sewing on this one.  My fingers are ripped to shreds.  Hopefully the next challenge will use real fabric!
Thanks for looking!

Third Round: We did get to use any fabric this challenge...but we had to design for "models" wearing stilts....or in this case, tape and chopsticks.

I picked these fabrics at "MOOD" (formerly known as my stash)

I was calling it the "mullet".  Business up front, party in the back.  But one of the other designers thought it looked like a sexy Jedi.  SO now it's the "Sexy Jedi Mullet" out fit.
And you may have noticed a new model this week.  My last model Chien ran off with an Argentinean dog breeder.  This model came from the Dali School of Modeling.

Our next challenge is to design something for Nina Garcia...not looking forward to this one...

To all past swap partners....If something I made you fell apart in some way, it would be helpful to me if you PMed me and told me about it.  Sometimes, I try new things, and if they fail, it helps me to know

If you did, I'd look something like this:

Oh, that's if you make one for my toddler too Smiley

(And this is an old photo, it's cold where I live but not that cold! It's the only full length photo I could find, and it sort of looks like I'm walking a runway..... Smiley
