holy smokes! so i have been wanting to embroider for a while now. i follow the hoopla swaps and dream about it lol
i finally bought the gnomes and faeries sublime stitching patterns and got down to it for my friends birthday this saturday. she looooooves gnomes! its very basic and tons of room for improvement but i am more than pleased.

i used e6000 glue to glue the left over fabric to the inside of the hoop, then glued some felt to the back to hide my knots. i sewed up a lil bow and added some ribbon to disguise the hoop screw area and be able to hang it from the wall

without further adieu... my first hoop

heres a few progress shots i took

a close up of the lil guy

and the back side

c&c always appreciated as i am learning (how do you keep your fingers from killing you?)

That looks great!! Way better than any of my attempts, particularly your filler stitches!

I....take breaks. LOL. I don't think there's a magic cure. I've noticed that the tougher the fabric the more my fingers hurt. Smiley

thanks  Cheesy i tried to keep the filler lines tight as i could. i know i need more practice on outlining though lol

i dont think i took enough breaks, i was a bit obsessed with the deadline to get it to my friend for her bday on time lol

That is such a cute hoop! Your friend is going to love it.

I think you should sign the back (with pen/marker or embroider it!) and maybe add a little note. Not needed but would add and extra personal touch  Wink
