Hi All!
Despite being a huge fan of Craftster and being on here all the time looking at what other people are crafting, I've not posted anything for aaages. Why?...I bought a house just over a year ago and have spent all my time since making it look pretty (and quirky).
I live on my own so don't really have much need for a 'dining room' so I've turned the space into a reading room/library and some quotes for the wall to brighten up the room fit in well with that.
The hardest part of this was to pick out some quotes that I liked, that suited me and were by people I love (not that I'm asking for much of course). Then I could get down to the actual crafting.
I got some canvases from poundland and painted them with the paint I had leftover from my living room (the two rooms are joined only by a set of double glass doors so I wanted them to match without being exactly the same). I printed out the quotes, in Lucida Calligraphy, then set about tracing them onto the canvases and painting them.
I used good old greaseproof paper to do the tracing (like when I was a kid), drawing around the writing, scribbling on the back then around again on top of the canvas to leave a faint line.

I used a really thin brush and some poster paint for the actual text. It took a lot of patience and a steady hand (and I still can't stay within the lines).

Here they are finished and on the wall. I must admit, I love it! It's not perfect, but then again 'Imperfection is beauty'. It looks good with my book wall too (of which I am very proud), I decided not to paper the wall on the left with traditional wallpaper, I cut up a book and covered it with that (looks pretty good if I do say so myself).

And finally...
The quotes are
'I'm very emotional; I think I may go mad in several years time' - Freddie Mercury
'I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I have ended up where I needed to be' - Douglas Adams
'I'm not gonna leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all...there's no place like home' - Frank L. Baum
'Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring' - Marilyn Monroe
'Reality Depresses me. I like to find fantasy worlds and escape in them' - Noel FieldingI've been thinking about doing this for a while, thank you Craftster for spurring me on to start this project!!!
Thanks for looking
