I don't plan on joining this crochetalong because I've been up to my eyeballs in granny squares lately, but I just wanted to post this project for a bit of inspiration:

I'm in the middle of making a Luigi version which should be finished in a couple of days. I've also seen tetris and PacMan granny square blankets, there seem to be a lot of nerdy things you can do with those things Cheesy

That is by far the coolest thing I've seen today. Did you make up the chart yourself, or did you find it online? I definitely want to make my own now but maybe a fire flower or 1-up mushroom, or something... My mind is racing with ideas now. Haha.

But really, that turned out SO well! Can't wait to see how Luigi turns out!

Oi!...been be-bopping in quilt-world...nice to see some nifty-'nerdy' granny work!!  Wink  I love how that's turned out, too!  And would love to see some more mario granny blankets!!

the one I made has 836 squares and was a great stash-buster.  I'm hoping to join up w/another swap and keep tearing through my yarn and make another one...just not right away.  =] Still plugging away on the granny swap blanket construction.  I've added a row round each row of six squares...taking my time w/it in the evenings.

I've been stalking the granny-square-a-day a-longs for months, probably since the beginning of this year.  It's just so fun to see all the different colors used and items people are making! You guys are very talented.  About the middle of last month I wanted to start doing my own granny squares but there was no July listing that I could find...!  So I just started anyways.  I decided to make a granny square bag! Here is the link, but I'm sure many of you have seen this floating around the forums before :0)  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=255559.0  I will post pictures of my progress shortly!

Here's what I've been working on, for my granny square bag :0)  I have about 8 more to go, I think. Then I need to weave in the ends and start sewing them together.

Ah...I really can see why you snapped it up!  I can see it in a pretty ripple afghan.  I don't think DH would understand the purchase of more yarns...and I'm SeRiOuS about finishing WiPs at the moment...=]  I'll keep an eye out for it, I'm sure it's even prettier in person...

I have had to take a break for a bit from almost all the things I enjoy due to carpel tunnel. =( I am getting stir crazy though so I started a child size granny for a friends baby. A few rows a day instead of a square a day is my limit so lets see what I get done this month.
