AUGUST GRANNY-A-DAY

This is basically a motivation crochetalong. If you want to work on a granny square, motif, one huge granny square blanket, this is a great way to set aside time everyday to get some serious work completed in an attainable amount of time.

People have come up with some really neat uses for grannys too! Different bags and blankets, shopping sack holder, slippers, scarves, a nifty pullover etc. I have made 7" grannys and after a month I have 30 squares that make a perfect size throw blanket.

If you are intrested and would like to join we would love to see your work! Post pics of progress and then at the end of the month post a pic of al that you accomplished! It would be great if everyone could post progress weekly (but not required). At the end of the month we can piece together our work and show off our afghans and Inga bags and whatever else you can come up with to make with nifty grannies! (Must post a completed project or progress pic in this thread.)

This month I will be piecing together my swap blanket from the granny square swap. I am trying to decide what color my joing yarn will be! Open to suggestions. Here are my pretty squares that I will be working with:

I am going to try my hardest to do this! It looks like a lot of fun to craft with people from all over the world! Plus this is my birthday month so this can be my birthday afghan   Maybe if I am doing this with others it will motivate me to stick with it!!!  I am soo excited!!!


Oh and BabyCakes8510 I would suggest a dark blue or purple maybe.  Because from the pictures it looks like purple and blue are in most of the squares. But any color would look nice since it is going to be a hodge podge of color

I don't know, Babycakes. I always like the ones joined by black, but that's just me.

I started a few squares for myself the other day. Red Heart Super Saver colors: turqua, cornbread, and cafe.
The man behind me at the mariners game asked me how long it took me to make a square. He said his grandma crochets, but not as fast as i do. Haha. I always think i'd like to be able to crochet faster, so that was nice to hear.

I'd really like to make a vest like this:
I can't seem to find a better picture of it... seems pretty straightforward, though, i think.
Any ideas?

Great sites, you've given, Scrappy...love the second one...if only I were a smaller size...=] *sigh*

glad to see everyone getting geared up for making some new granny creations!!!   I'm doing the same thing as Babycakes, only I've gotten drk grey/black for joining colors added already and am putting rows together...I've also started an Inga bag some time ago and hope to have it finished this month!

I'm going to try to get back in the grind with this one. July was a crazy month for me, and I didn't get much crocheting done. Hopefully August will be smoother!
