Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender UPDATE: Got new eyes!

Hiya all!

This is my first post and I am so exited! I've been crochetting all weekend and want to introduce you to my favorite little airbender and first... no, wait... second amigurumi I've made, Aang.



He is made by (slightly modified) Becchin's pattern for Link, translated to English by Tanoshimou. Pattern  can be found here.

I used cotton yarn and 2½ hook. Aang's head is pivotable, he can stand on his own feet and shoes are detachable (What a great pattern it is!) so he can be also barefoot. Belt and cloak are also removable. And you can see he's got a bit scarred during his adventures I put piece of wire in his hand so he can hold his staff/glider.



I'm still not sure if I should add more facial detail or not. I'd like to put his typical big bright smile to Aang's face and add some grey eyecolour... or will it destroy the cuteness?

My post doesn't look so neat because I'm new and not allowed to post pictures...

Nevertheless, I believe that that Aang can save the world!


UPDATE!

Aang got fresh new face when I found these pretty 8mm glass eyes for him. Then I got carried away a bit and added nose and smile . I'm still pondering about brow, what do you think?

Heh.. I think I try and make rest of the gaang first before trying something as ambitious as Appa... Or maybe I really should do Momo... Before Aang gets too lonely...

WOW! This is only your second ami? Excellent work. I have been looking for a great person ami pattern and I just haven't found the right now. But after posting the link to Aang I may have found it. ^_^ Thanks again for the link!

Your Aang Ami' is very well done, congratulations for this wonderful work!
You wondered if you had to add his big bright smile, I think he's perfect like that, I would not change his face. Perhaps his eyes would be more intense with safety eyes rather than embroidered eyes ? I don't know.
I like all his removable cothes, it's very cute! And his scar is a great idea!
I'm an Avatar (cartoon) fan and I was hesitant to signe up for the Avatar swap last week, your work gives me some regrets (I thought trying to do Appa but I didn't have enough time)

Thanks for all your kind comments! Really, I'm starting to blush... For clarification: I've crochetted A LOT before, but mostly flowers. Only amigurumi's I've made before this one is Kodama from Princess Mononoke for my friend who requested it... I never really seen the point of crochetted little dolls... before...

For tarmine626: You're ablolutely right. I tryed to embroider a smile but it just didn't seem right... So I undid it. Allso in original pattern they used safety eyes but I haven't got any. But I agree, they look more intense. I've allso thought of using some kind of glass beads or painted wooden ones 'cause I'd really like to show color of their eyes... So many plans, so little time...

There was an AVATAR SWAP!?! OMG!! Hope they do second fourth round some day.
