I've lurked on Crafster for several months now and decided to finally post up one of my projects.

My bf and I worked on this together. It's bulbasaur from pokemon. Smiley He's made of perler beads and is fairly large (he's two large pegboards by three large pegboards).

Here he is with pichu. Smiley

Hope you like them!

They are large pieces and look very accurate.

This is awesome! I have a stash of Perler beads, but didn't know what I wanted to do with them (I don't really need coasters or magnets or things to hang from the rear-view mirror). I never thought about making something on a larger scale.

Did you lay out all of the boards and build on them, or did you do them in sections and then join them? I'll have to see what I have for peg boards- I don't think I have any large ones, so I may have to hunt them down!

To Antidigger:
Thank you! I used sprites from the pokemon video games to get the details right.

Thank you too! To make a piece this large I laid out and connected several large peg boards (they look like this: http://www.eksuccessbrands.com/perlerbeads/Products/Large_Clear_Square_Peg_Boards__2_Ct_22613.htm) It helps to lay them out on a piece of cardboard so you can move them if you need too. I bought my large pegboards at Joanns but I've also seen them at Micheals. If you interested in making some video game sprites I recommend using the Spriters Resource and using MyPixelPal (it's free) to create a chart. Good luck! Smiley

Thanks for the added info! I don't think I'll be making sprites (I somehow never got sucked into video games as a kid), but I'd love to make something science-y (maybe a big frog!) for my classroom. I'll definitely be shopping (with coupons, of course) for the large boards the next time I'm at Joanns or Michaels. Thanks for the heads up about MyPixelPal, too. That'll definitely make things easier.

To Antidigger:

Good luck with your perler bead projects! Smiley (Also if you check the site for the perler beads they have lots of project ideas.)

To Cinnacat:

Thanks! One of my favorite parts of the process was trying to create shading that matched bulbasaur's look. Smiley
