Tea - are there any hospitality supply places nearby? I buy stuff from a local one here occasionally, when I need plain stuff. Like I bought a bunch of baskets (like they'd use at a restaurant for bread rolls and whatnot to make hampers last Christmas.

here are two hats I've made for the first 1st bday in our mother's group. The little boy has a birthmark in the middle of his forehead that makes mum self conscious so I know she'll appreciate hats. Here's my little boy modelling.

Those hats are wonderful! Great job!

It's my little'uns 2nd birthday TODAY and we're still finishing up his presents, but I promise to post pics as soon as I can. I hope everyone is still crafting along - and thanks for being such a source of encouragment for me!

SO - we managed to finish the little one's Knightly gifts for his birthday. I finished my half on his actual day - Friday, and the hubs worked until ridiculously late the last two nights finishing up his half for the big reveal at our family party today. Both were a huge hit - and so, I give you - the KNIGHTLY BIRTHDAY GIFTS!

All the gear a little knight needs

Lookin' especially handsome.

Super awesome castle

hinged doors and working drawbridge

back with piano hinge and magnets for easy kid access

It's the perfect size for playin' 'guys'

and a good place to receive your cake. Smiley

I also made a buttload of cupcakes for our family party.

Well - whaddya think everyone? Did we do a knightly job?

Totally In!!!

We actually decided to do a mostly home-made Christmas for 2011, anyway, and I'm well on my way to Christmas 2012, too!

There's just something nice about realizing that all that stuff in your closet is going to be used up, making room for all sorts of NEW stuff!

LOL!

He's practically LIVED in the stuff since yesterday afternoon.

The cupcakes (which are kind of a little passion of mine - trying out new ideas, substituting and making up recipes, etc) are as follows:

Earl grey cupcakes with lemon buttercream frosting

Orange pound cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (it's the orange frosting - tinted with wilton icing dyes)

Confetti chip cupcakes (yup - box mix - requested by the birthday boy when we were at the grocer) with vanilla buttercream frosting (tinted blue)

and my new wonderfulness: Chocolate-Cherry Coke Float cupcakes. My basic chocolate buttermilk recipe, substituting in coke for most of the liquid, cut a cone out of the top, stuff the cupcake with cherry pie filling, top with a coke/confectioner's sugar glaze, and frost with sweetened whipping cream. Mmm. SO moist - they were my fave for this party. Smiley
