My year is not off to a great start, crafting-wise  Undecided

I haven't finished the aprons for the twins, and have instead begun valentine's presents for my kids...I'm making each kid a "52 Reasons I love you" book...

My start hasn't been the best either.  I thought my grandmothers birthday was next week, when it really was last week, so haven't sendt the gift yet.  And my best friends daughters birthday was yeatserday, and only today I got out the fabric and started drawing the pattern  Embarrassed  I'm going to blame it all on pregnancy hormones...

I'm still here too!

I've been working on putting my list together for (at least) the next couple of months.
Here's what I've got so far:

January

Hubby's 30th birthday: BIG BIG BIG family/friends/etc party. That was the gift - check!

February

BFF is having her 3rd baby: Embroidered Hoop "family tree" - complete except that I'm waiting for bebe to be born so I can put the last name in.

V-Day:

Dog-Day (the anniversary of when we got our fur-baby Copper):

BFF's 30th bday: Joint gift w/her hubby: thinking of doing a "night out"IN kit
BFF's hubs' bday: Movie, popcorn, other fave snacks,?Huh? any other ideas?

BFF's 2nd son's 2nd birthday: bow-tie w/matching suspenders

Guy Friend's 30th: Huh Ideas? He's a good-ol boy, mechanic, NASCAR fan, lives in the country, drives a big-ol' truck.... yeah.

March

Our lil'one's 2nd: Building a "Knight in a box" kit - castle, play figures, knight costume for play.

FIL's bday: Ideas? He's an engineer, he works in IT management, he golfs, he's an amateur photog (VERY amateur).

April

Easter: matching bow-ties and suspenders for both boys, easter eggs (30), ?

May

Mothers Day Mum:

Mothers Day MIL:

Mothers Day Cards (6):

Baby sis' Bday:

That's all I've got for now, and as you can see.... I have a LOT of empty spaces. Any ideas you've got would be grand!

Tea.

Teamama, does your nascar lovin' truck driving buddy have a travel mug for coffee? Maybe find an inexpensive plain one and do a nascar design? Does he wear a baseball hat? Have a steering wheel cover? How about a big batch of his favorite cookies?

Travel mug is a good idea... I'll def. ask his wife about that one. He DOES wear a baseball cap - like all the time... but I don't know what I could make for that.... he's very particular about what goes ON/IN the truck, so that's probably out.

Has anyone ever tried those glass/ceramic paints that you bake on in your oven? I'm thinking if I can find a ceramic travel mug, I could customize it that way.... good ideas bookstorebabe! Thanks!

I have, occasionally. The glass paint I have I bought at the art supply store, 1.49 for a one ounce bottle. The instructions say to clean the surface with vinegar first, but I forget to do that half the time! I suppose it's a good way to insure no grease or soap residue, so your paint will adhere nicely. Air dry 7 days before handwashing in warm water, do not soak. Dishwasher safe if you bake it 24 hours after you paint it, at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
The bottles say Ultra Gloss, Air Dry Enamel. At the top of the bottle it says For Glass, Tile, and More. So, yeah-if you're looking for something that says Glass Paint on it, it doesn't leap off the label at you, but this is the stuff. I'm sure there's other brands, this is just what they stock close to my home.
Now, I don't make crafts with that often, because I suck at drawing and painting. But sometimes I get an idea to make something, and drag them out again.
Keep a damp paper towel or two handy. Keep a few wet q-tips around too, if you've got 'em. This is for the inevitable smudge you'll make, so you can wipe the offending smear off and try again.
What it looks like in the bottle is the color it'll look like after painting and drying, it doesn't lighten or darken after baking, and it comes in lots of colors.
Somebody who does more than dabble in this once every blue moon could probably help you more, but this gives you an idea.
Oh, and the baseball cap idea? I was thinking pick up a plain one, and use fabric paint, or sew on a patch or embroider a certain phrase, something like that.
You're welcome and good luck! Smiley

So, yesterday, my daughter announces that she's been invited to a classmate's bday party tomorrow!  Yikes!  He's turning 8 and one of the things she said he liked is Domo, so I made this T-Shirt:

The mouth is appliqued felt, and the eyes are buttons.
