I've seen some really cute fabric flowers made out of denim. They were really cute. That might be an idea.

I make rat hammocks from worn legs. better legs get used to patchwork a decent size piece of material for bags of all sorts, waistcoats, hats etc.

A semi decent pocket gets turned into a bag/purse, or patched onto something else.

A good enough waistband, usually with the zip, gets used as a beachbag closure. often with and old tie or 2 as handles.

Scraps get made into flowers, often stuck on alice bands as well as made into bag charms and brooches.

I also toyed with keeping strips and rag rugging - but by then I am usually sick of the sight of the jeans and just thread any lefovers into the rat cage and let them chew on it!!

if you're still interested in wearing them, old jeans
can be turned into a cute skirt, shorts, or capris.
you can also turn scraps into hair bows.(:

Denim hippie skirts.  Open inside seams on the legs & add long triangular pieces front & back to fill in.  Embroider or applique to make it more fun.

Denim also makes good rag rugs, pot-holders & purses.

Cut off the legs, sew shut and thread two belts through those things on top (you know, those that hold the belts ^^;) an use them as straps.

I made a really cool quilt out of all our families old jeans. I used anything with no seems or pockets ( you can use those for bags/pillows etc) and saved jeans for several years. I am NOT a quilter by any means, so this was simply 5x5 squares that I sewed together and then put flees on the back and used yarn to knot at the corner seems...

I made this 20 years ago in college and STILL use it.. I can even remember some of the jeans LOL Wink

I made simple quilts from squares of denium for my Mother ..Lil Sis and Daughter  for Christmas and used flannel sheets for Mothers and Sis's backing I bought at thrift store and used the recieving blankets I had saved from when DD was a baby(she is now 32 yrs old ) for her backing ..With Lil Sis's I used a bedazzler to add bling (her initals and a puppy face ) so they could tell them apart at a glance ..With Mom's I used four pockets  one in the center of each end row turned upside down so she could hold the remote or tissues as she was relaxing in the recliner ..These are the warmest... very snuggliy quilts and they even use them on their beds in winter to keep from turning up the heat in their bedrooms ..Total cost to me was the sheets and more thread ...

Look in your local library, I found several books lately that have really cool rugs in them made from denium. They are very cool and up to date looking.
