I lusted after the book "The Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts", circa 1982, for ages until my wonderful friend Heidi sent me a copy! The pattern for this little sun catcher was in the book and I fell in love. I increased the size of the pattern a bit and whipped him up.
After foiling and soldering! I used a black patina to darken my solder lines from silver to black. I really like that look.

Here is a WIP photo. My pieces all cut and ground awaiting foiling.

Here is the new gnome in a place of honor. Right in the front window of the house.

Thanks for looking!

I love it!  Is stained glass a hard thing to learn? Do you have to have a certain workshop to work on the glass? Do little particles of glass get everywhere?

This would be such a fun hobby to start...amongst all the rest.. Grin

Stained glass isn't really hard, but it does require a lot of specialized tools that are fairly expensive. I get to use the materials at my local art center. The glass itself is pretty spendy too. Glass particles do get all over when grinding and safety glasses are a must. I like to do my grinding outside.

So cute! I love the effect of the black patina too. This makes me want to work on glass again!
