I have been wanting to make runners to go on the top of my dressers for a long loooong time... I have started a few times and then changed gears because of one reason or another. Well, almost a year and a half later I finally came up with something that I liked - and it was almost instant satisfaction since it was a quilt as you go project. Once you are done piecing it, all you have to do is bind it. Sweet. Granted, it doesn't have tons of beautiful quilting but these are runners. I'm okay with that.

I followed
the Idaho Quilter tutorialI will say that the long ones I changed the starting square to 8 1/2" to make it deep enough for my big dressers. I also added a strip of the butterfly fabric to tie it together halfway through the repeated strips pattern.
If you make it - use your walking foot... it will help to keep your tips on track - and I also drew a line down the length of the material to make sure I was staying on point and with the walking foot I was - without the walking foot.... yeah, I ripped A LOT.
The colors are not right. The materials are richer in color. The inside shots are closer to what they really are but they are much deeper and richer shades to the colors.
This size is 51 x 16", for the side tables... and the larger ones for the two big dressers is 94x20". I love the way they came out. I think they're just perfect. My bedroom walls are a dusty purple. I'm going to make valances and wall hangings in the upcoming year... But not right now, I have other projects that need to be checked off my to do list.

I also of course blogged about this but it's one of my pet peeves when people post a pic and then say for more info go to my blog... I *think* I covered everything here that I did on my blog. I'm really happy with these. I just love instant gratification.

Although now I have to finish cleaning up the room. The pictures here are of hubby's dressers... I still have to put mine on. I'll do that this week....
