This swap is for anyone who would love to send and receive some cookies in the mail.  Actually, anything that you can bake or make that will arrive fresh is encouraged.  Brownies, fudge, candy, truffles, bark...as long as it is yummy and will stand up to shipping you can send it.

SWAP REQUIREMENTS

We will be swapping 2 dozen home made cookies, the recipe(s) and one small bought or crafted item.

You can choose to send as many different kinds of cookies as you like.  Bar cookies such as brownies and candies such as fudge or caramels are also welcome.  Just make sure that they are able to withstand shipping.  The cookies must arrive fresh and in tact.

Dont forget the recipes!  Please include the recipe for each type of treat you are sending.  You will be able to specify what size (if any) recipe cards you would like.

The small item should be cooking/baking or kitchen related. As a guideline, Craftster says a small item takes less than 2 hours to make or costs under $10 to buy.  Some ideas are recipe books, dishcloths/towels, measuring cups, spatulas, wooden spoons, oven mitts etcYou will be able to specify your likes and dislikes in the questionnaire.

SHIPPING

*Please put lots of care into how your cookies are shipped.  We don't want our partners to receive a box of crumbs (unless you say so in your questionnaire  Wink ).  Here is a link with some information on how to mail cookies safely.  If you have any other shipping suggestions please share them in this thread.

*Ideally, the cookies should be shipped Priority Mail so they remain as fresh as possible.  Lets try and keep shipping times under one week.  This can be discussed between partners.  I would also like to try to keep shipping within our own countries.

*The last few cookie swaps have included mostly U.S. and Canadian swappers. Anyone outside of North America you are more than welcome and are encouraged to join this swap. We will do our best to find appropriate swap partners for you.

*Take Note: If your partner receives a box full of crumbs and it is obvious that the cookies were not properly packaged you will be required to resend.

COMMUNICATION

Please let me and your partner know when:
   1. You have shipped. Include your DC# or equivalent tracking # in the PM.
   2. You have received.
   3. You will be late.  Have respect.

*This will be a really quick swap but while you are waiting for your partners and cookies to arrive you can always share your excitement and anxiousness in this thread.

FEEDBACK

I will give you positive feedback when your partner has received the:
   1. Properly stored and shipped cookies,
   2. recipes &
   3. one small extra.

*Please do not join this swap if you are unable to ship by the send date of August 29 2011.  If something does arise and you are unable to send by that date you must let both me and your partner know.

*You will have until 11:00 pm CST on August 29 2011  to communicate your shipping status to both me and your partner.  Failure to do so will result in negative feedback.

*Temporary negative feedback will be given on September 12 2011 (or 2 weeks past your communicated late shipping date) if your package has not arrived.  This is per craftster swap rules.

I did this last round and received some DELICIOUS things, snickerdoodle cupcakes in a jar, awesome biscotti...so good...and would love to do it again, but I am on a diet, and I'm sticking to it!! And I'm sure no one wants to make 'health' cookies!!! I will have to drool from afar!

Congrats on sticking with your diet!

If anyone has any dietary concerns and would still like to join this swap either send me a PM or mention it in this thread.  I know lots of bakers, myself included, don't have any problems modifying recipes.

As much as I love to bake cookies...I can't imagine firing up the oven just yet!  This heat wave can't last forever!  And then I can make up sugar cookies w/icing to my hearts content! or no-bakes...or snickerdoodles...or just 'plain' chocolate chip yummy goodness!  **hope that generates some swap takers**

There's plenty of no-bake recipes out there! http://pinterest.com/search/?q=no+bake Also, you could make things with minimal heat like the amazingly delicious oreo truffles! (the only heat would be to warm up the chocolate) http://www.bakerella.com/grocery-item-goes-gourmet/

EDIT: also, I for one would  not be opposed to getting any of the following: http://pinterest.com/pin/58306587/ , http://pinterest.com/pin/57413837/ (would probably have to freeze first and send priority),  http://pinterest.com/pin/32387066/ , http://www.squawkfox.com/2008/12/02/holiday-gifts-8-homemade-gifts-in-a-jar-with-free-printable-gift-tags/

Hi everyone~

Yaaay!!  I'm really looking forward to this swap... So glad I was able to join.  I'm going to have to try out some new recipes before the sendout date!

Kittymom ~ Join!!!  No bake sounds good to me  Smiley  I am currently baking a cake for my nieces' bday and am sweating in my kitchen!!

About the swap~ I just had a bit of a funny conversation with my (teenaged) son about this that you might like...

Me - So I joined a cookie swap on Craftster
Him - A cookie swap? Like you're going to swap cookies with complete strangers?
Me - Yep. Neat, eh?
Him - NO!! Don't do it mom! What if you get matched with some crazy person who makes pot brownies or something that could hurt you??
Me - Are you serious?
Him - Yes, of course I'm serious. You're not allowed to do this one.  Crochet squares were fine, this is weird.
Me - Are you serious?  ...this is Craftster.  Only other geeky crafters like me are on there. I'm fairly certain that no one is joining this swap with malicious intentions...
Him - Well. Go ahead. But don't expect me to eat them.

 Grin

I love teenagers.

That's funny! No one here would make any kind of weird cookies (well, maybe weird, but not in a bad way).

lol hilarious conversation, Koreena. The thing is, in order to join a swap you have to have been a member for a month and had a certain amount of posts. Plus then you have to bake cookies and send a package, it just seems like a lot of work just to send you pot brownies or something Wink

Hello! I'm totally excited to be part of this swap because everyone knows that strangers make the best cookies!  Grin My friend is just as excited about this swap as I am. He is hoping to score some extra cookies I make and then some of the cookies I get too. It's nice to get extra little treats sometimes.

We're living abroad in Italy for the next few years, but with our APO address we get shipping as quickly as from coast-to-coast back home, and the postage costs the same.  Would you ladies be OK with that if I joined in?

If anyone is OK with international shipping, or if live in or around Italy please let us know.  I would love to offer but Canada Post would charge me at least $100 to get your cookies there on time.

Mmm, I have been craving cookies recently. And I have also been wanting to get into the wonderful world of swapping. Cookies seem like a good reason to do that. And they don't have calories if someone else makes them for you, right?  Wink

Holy busy summer batman!!  Can you believe that it's already the middle of August?? Wow!

I'm really looking forward to spending some time in the kitchen this weekend to get danynn's cookies ready  Cheesy  I've decided to make 3 different kinds instead of only 2 ~ I hope she won't mind! Roll Eyes  When I tossed out her likes/dislikes to my facebook folk, I got too many good suggestions to only make 2.

Thanks for sharing the link on how send cookies safely - Would never have thought to individually wrap them before packing in order to reduce breakage...  What a great idea!

Anyhow~ Happy cookie making everyone Smiley
