Sweetie!  You do not NEED to buy a mat and rotary cutter and quilting square to make a quilt - that is a ploy on behalf of the quilt shop to make you PURCHASE products!  Our ancestors didn't have no stinkin' rotary cutter and their quilts were beautiful and precise!  If and when you do decide to purchase these quilting tools, or others, do not buy from a quilt shop - my gosh, you will have to get another mortgage on your house!  Shocked Buy from JoAnn's - they do have excellent quality tools and more than likely if the items are not on sale, there is a coupon to be had!  I always wait to buy with 40% off or 50% off coupons. Quilt shops are great for inspiration and fabric and even patterns, but I don't usually buy notions or tools there. And you can get a lot of free quilt patterns online. You can even sign up on line and get discounts/coupons and order online from JoAnn's - even with shipping it will be cheaper than your quilt shop, any quilt shop.  I have purchased ONE template at a quilt shop, only because I could not get it at JoAnn's or Walmart.

Good luck with your quilting in the future - I love sewing quilts in the summer when it's so hot outside - like NOW.   Cool

This is exactly what I thought!  They are great tools for increasing speed, but are by no means necessary.  You've done just fine - no worries!  Wink

I've got a nice, tall blank wall in my entryway, going up the stairs.  If you don't want it, I'll take it!

I'd hang it on the wall.

Is there a state or county fair in your area?  You should enter this if there is.

It looks great.  I think the colours look great together (my husband just said it makes him think of butterflys flying over grass).

Great job for a first (or any) project.

Wow! That is very impressive. I don't usually like those colours together, but they look great here - jewel-like! I also love the quilting, it really adds a lot of movement and fits with thee butterflies so well. amazing job!

Are you kidding? Garish?! NEVER!! It's absolutely beautiful and I would love to have something like that in my girls' bedroom ... Purple and Green are beautiful together, and the black is a wonderful touch. Keep up the good work. I can't believe this is your first quilt!!! You've been Pinned, btw!
