Can I use a piece of laminate wood flooring to create a solid base for my metal beetle feet?

I won't be having the holes, but I would like that unusual shape. Also, I will be gluing them to the sole of my trainers, what sort of glue would make sure it definitely sticks?

Laminate flooring should work fine.  Be sure you clean the bottom of the shoes with detergent and water (rinse and dry well) and rough them up with 60-grit sandpaper.  Use urethane construction adhesive to attach the wood to the shoes.
