I'm in the process of packing up my house because we're moving. We found a little bit of our Barbie collection that was left over so I went through it to find anything I could use for jewellery or other crafts. So far, this is the jewellery I've made with it.

This was from a ball jointed gymnast Barbie which was already missing its other arm. I detached this one wire wrapped it and added a red Czech glass teardrop.

This is a steak from a Barbie barbecue set which I think came with the camper van we bought.

These are some shoes I found, which I made pierced and threaded head pins through. The beads are vintage moonglow lucite.

They look very cool!  I still have all my Barbie dolls from when I was a kid, but couldn't bring myself to cut them up Sad  I am sure I will find a use for mine one day!

I love the steak ring. Someday I'm going to make myself a pair of Barbie shoe earrings.

I love the shoe earrings! I have tubs and tubs of barbie clothes, shoes, accessories, and barbies in general. Agreed that those pieces are fantastic conversation starters!

Theres always something very rewarding about tearing up a barbie for parts... Hopefully that doesnt make me sound like too much of a serial killer, but whatever ~~ Ive been on a total barbie craft kick for a few months now, I was selling jewelry at my schools art sale this past spring and it was really interesting to see how women and girls of all ages responded to pieces with barbie hands + heads, where in my other pieces they probably don't have a point of access like that. Barbie is such an iconographic/powerful image I think, which is always fun to tear apart.
