round sewing??

I have the biggest problem with sewing in the round or oval, like the top of a hat or the bottom of a purse.  any tips?  thanks

it is easier if you use lots of pins to pin the pieces together.

I just do difficult shapes by hand.

LOL, if you're doing it by machine, you may want to try clipping the curves of the round piece, because the seam lines of both pieces will match in length, but the edges of the fabric will be different lengths.

Thanks for the tips!  Today, I am working in the round with a hat.  I've taken out a few parts and smoothed out some spots.  I may use a tried and true technique:  cover-up.  I like to add ribbon around the brim of hats, so I may use this technique with trim and maybe, a flower.  Though, my hat does look better now that I've re-sewn some parts.

It seems like no matter how many times i sew in the round, I have problems though.  I have made a bunch of purses with round or curved bottoms and generally, take out some portion and re-do.

Hand sewing is worth a try, also.  Clipping - I wonder if I do this right?  Pins, yes ... I use them in bunches.  I think some of the problem is that this projects use lots of interfacing and are thick to sew.
