Hey all!

Just thought I'd share this piece I did a while ago--I'm pretty proud of it, but I forgot to take pictures of it before giving it to my boyfriend! Anyway, I was just able to take some pictures, so I thought I'd share!

The lyrics on the hot air balloon are : "Oh Home, Let me come home! Home is wherever I'm with you!"
from this really sweet song by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. My boyfriend and I both really like it, and it seemed fitting for when he moved a few states away for school, so I drew a design and stitched it up!

I did this piece in split stitch on linen, because at the time, I didn't really know how to do any other stitches--now I do!
I wrapped the finished piece around some stretcher bars and secured them there using this great tutorial from tickertape, so Tim could hang this on the wall of his dorm. The whole thing is around 8x10 inches.

Onto some pictures (Sorry for some of the weird shadows, don't know what happened there!)

The whole thing:

I've been really getting into embroidery, I hope to keep posting new pieces.
Tell me what you think, I'd love to get some feedback!

Nice needlework, Quinn!!  I love this balloon - I have not embroidered for so long, it would be like beginning again.  Maybe I need to try some again soon.  Smiley

What a cool gift for your boyfriend.  The design is really neat, I like the blend of colors and textures and fonts, it all works!
