For my Sustainable Happiness class, we were asked to do an assignment expressing gratitude and appreciation.  I decided that instead of a letter to ONE person, I would make this dress that appreciates all the wonderful people in my life.  It took about 30 hours to complete.

The dress is made from 7 White T-shirts to make the patches and 1 Black T-shirt for the trim, so it goes with the theme of sustainability.  Each patch has a phrase of gratitude destined for someone in my life painted on with a brush in black fabric paint.  Some of the phrases include:
"I am enjoying getting to know you."
"Words fall short of what I want to say to you."
"Thank you for respecting my choices and decisions."
"You have always been proud of me no matter what."
"Nobody makes me laugh like you do."
"Our friendship means more to me than I imagined."

I'm not planning on telling what patch belongs to whom, but instead allow people to guess.  I hope you like it, I'm really proud of it! Grin

And some progress pictures!

Any comments/criticisms welcome!  Thank you!

So positive!  I LOVE THIS!

The style is great--did you make your own pattern?

I didn't use a pattern, I just flew by the seat of my pants. It's basically just 9" x 9" squares sewn together and hungon a diagonal.  Then the patches meet in the back along the straight edge and I took it in a bit.  It was easy!

Guardie for life.

I am really interested in doing a personal swap, especially for greener things like reusable lady items, wool dryer balls, or other such things.  I can knit, sew, draw, and put things together in pretty neat ways.  Please PM me if you're interested.

I am in awe of this project!!! Shocked  Seriously.  It's amazing.  I want one myself!!  It has a newspaper dress feel to it, but much more personal & fulfilling.  I too would like to know what grade you received!
