For my Sustainable Happiness class, we were asked to do an assignment expressing gratitude and appreciation. I decided that instead of a letter to ONE person, I would make this dress that appreciates all the wonderful people in my life. It took about 30 hours to complete.
The dress is made from 7 White T-shirts to make the patches and 1 Black T-shirt for the trim, so it goes with the theme of sustainability. Each patch has a phrase of gratitude destined for someone in my life painted on with a brush in black fabric paint. Some of the phrases include:
"I am enjoying getting to know you."
"Words fall short of what I want to say to you."
"Thank you for respecting my choices and decisions."
"You have always been proud of me no matter what."
"Nobody makes me laugh like you do."
"Our friendship means more to me than I imagined."
I'm not planning on telling what patch belongs to whom, but instead allow people to guess. I hope you like it, I'm really proud of it!
